Today was one of those lovely days that make you almost believe that winter is at an end and spring is just around the corner. Every year I get trapped into thinking that the cold, rain, dark, gray and mist is almost over. There are a few days in January or February that are mild, sunny. The buds are starting to appear on trees, the day stays light just a bit longer, there are birds chirping in the trees and the light seems kinder and gentler. I realize that I still have at least 5 good months of rain and misery ahead, but today was a wonderful break where I could get into the garden and sink my hands into the soil. I could look at all the new life that is sprouting around me. I could go out without a rain or winter coat. Today fed my soul.
