This might bore a lot of you but here you go. Run down of our typical day:
0515 Kimi gets up and starts to boil water for our bucket shower
0540 Jessica gets up and takes her shower after Kimi is finished while Kimi makes breakfast
0550 Jessica gets lunches ready while Kimi gets kids ready and eats
0645 in the car book bags packed, on the way to school
0715 arrive at school. Kids come to my office and watch Ipad while we run copies and get ready for the day (if there's internet)
0740 Jess takes kids with carseat to montessori building and does drop off
1200 Jonah gets picked up by friends and taken home for nap and afternoon
1515 School ends and I go to pick up Layna for either her next activity till 1600 (singing, cooking playing) while Kimi prepares for the next day
1615 head out and drop off co-worker on the way home
1645 get home and play with kids. Sometimes drop off our worker near the bus station
1745 start eating dinner
1800 boil water to get the kids shower ready
1830 shower time with lots of dirty water
1900 reading/bed/potty/night for kids
2100 bed time for us
To be repeated 5 days a week with some variation
As of late:
Kimi
- Coaching soccer twice a week and liasing with the Christian school in town to get a game going between the two schools
- Hand is almost all the way healed
- learning Kinyarwandan at a very good clip
- enjoying teaching a small class
Jess
- went and got her first pedicure here (6 bucks...pretty sweet)
- Trying out yoga for the first time tonight
- reduced her first Nurse Maids elbow
- trying to fit in jogging
- recruited to help set up the dutch sinterklaas party here
- had a really good talk with the 4-5th grade girls on development etc
Layna
- starting to speak english with an indian accent (her teacher is from India) or Rwandan accent (when with our housekeeper)
- had her first nurse maids elbow and was so incredibly brave. Called us while we were on our date and was the perfect little historian on the phone
- Speaking more and more dutch with mom
- going to her first birthday party here today
- still running and jumping around whenever she can
- Enjoys school especially her "jobs" and when she gets to be person of the day
Jonah
- has lost his belly :(
- is so happy that he can finally speak that he talks and labels things incessantly
- is so so happy to be at school that when mom comes over to check on a child he always says "mommy go bye bye now"
- is getting spoiled by our workers
- still has blond hair
- still loves to cuddle
- has learned how to gallop and loves galloping with his yellow rain boots the most
- is sleeping in a big boy bed
- is 90-95 percent potty trained
