Christmas is here! May it be merry wherever and with whoever you are celebrating. Bujumbura was fabulous. It was our consolation for no family and really close friends at Christmas which is a season that celebrates the getting together of those two groups. It is also the Birthday of my Sister. This is really our first year celebrating as just our little nuclear unit. We usually had celebrations in Seattle with friends (our Seattle family) and our church. So to bujumbura we went to escape Kigali for a few days and to come back just in time for Christmas.
We have had an uninvited guest for the last month or so. I spotted him once in the pantry and Janet (our helper) has spotted him in the garage. We have been looking for traps or a cat. This morning still on Holiday mode and after time spent with many cuddles in bed as a family and thoughts of our loved ones far off I got up. The kids wanted pancakes so I went to the kitchen to get together things to make for chocolate chip banana pancakes. Couldn't find the mixing bowls so opened up our pantry cupboard to have a in my imagination, a ginormous furry grey thing scitter out across my bare feet and away. I barely contained a scream but did grab Kimi's arm and squeezed. tight. I might have hyperventilated a little bit. I might have done and under my breath Iiii....Iiiii....Iiiiii...was that a mouse? I don't really care to know what kind of creature be it mouse or rat because it is most definitely one or the other. I want it gone. So off Kimi went on Christmas morning to look for mouse traps. They are not what I thought. It's a cage that traps it live. And what are we supposed to do with it then? I asked after he returned. I don't know...throw it away? was the reply. Thankfully I have a husband who will be dealing with this. I have located kittens. They will be weaned in about two weeks.
Merry Christmas
