I was the best of times, it was the worst of times

What can I say? Randi and DeeDee had a TRUE rwandan experience. There were great moments, there were moments when we all at different times lost it but overall it was a fabulous time seeing them. Here is my list of best of times and worst of times

"Worst" of times:
-(I wasn't there but vicariously) Stuck in the game park with a leaky gas tank and a minivan that was just in no way suitable for the roads there
 - experiencing extreme poverty
 - almost getting run over. Multiple times
 - car sickness
 - the "OMG" canadian couple
 - The entire car rental experience with Elias
 - An axle that fell off the second rental car while going 60 mph (b/c who has time to drive slowly here?) ;)
 - no water at our house
 - no internet
 - our car breaking down at the same time as the rental

"Best" of times:
 - Nyungwe forest lodge, 5 star heaven
 - chimp trekking (so this might not be a best of times for all, but I actually enjoyed machete wacking my way through the jungle)
 - the pool
 - amarula
 - ruzizi tented lodge
 - overcoming fear on the canopy walk
 - seeing all that nature has to offer (indoor seattle plants out door here)
 - hanging out with Janet

Funniest/most adventurous of times from my perspective
 - the leaky gas tank was fixed with a whittled piece of wood and a pant leg. And held for the multiple hour journey out of the park and home
 - Being able to measure my driving by Randi's clutching the door handle or not
 - mayonnaise in mustard bottles
 - sugary garlic bread
 - we forgot our bathing suits for the awesome 5 star hotel
 - a Screwdiver = soda and vodka
 - "it's no problem"
 - thinking that the computer at the Kigali airport can actually be used to check in ;)
 - sunburns
 - Eric the taxi driver

you guys are welcome wherever we are in the world. You'll always have a home away from home with us although it might lack water, electricity and internet and you can bet that it will be an adventure with our two crazy kids and animals. So glad you guys came and conquered
