Our time in Seattle is already coming to an end as I knew it would way to quickly. I had lots of nerves coming back but have the trip to be incredibly enlightening, relaxing and fun.
Some thoughts on the summer, America in general etc.
- There is a lot of obesity here
- There are too many choices - it's paralyzing
- America has gotten expensive
- I feel pretty bloated here most of the time
- People here work hard, and don't play enough
- I could really live in the suburbs and be content
- I really like an espresso machine and vitamix
- I'm incredibly blessed by friends' generosity.
- Parks here are amazing
- for all it's diversity and there is a lot, America is very American. It really is a melting pot
- My people are here. They're lifers
- I really like my church in West Seattle
- Friendships have deepened and it's awesome
- Jonah learned to ride a bike!!!
- I'm fortunate in my friendships and my community
- I really like a lot of NPR stuff, but have realized that listening to it all the time gives me this constant guilt about not being a better steward of this earth (You didn't recycle that banana peel? Let me tell you what happens because of that, You don't eat hormone free food? Let me tell you how that's bad for you.... ONLY YOU CAN MAKE THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE!!!)
- some food just isn't as good as I remembered it and that is so sad
- It's sad to think that I don't know when I'll be back here
- Ayumi has made a whole new set of friends this summer. Her cul-de-sac friends.
- Rwanda seems very far away when I'm here. Almost like I was never there
- Seattle in the summer is Amazing! I am so happy for that week of bad weather to remind me why I had a hard time here
- we as a family are so very and incredibly blessed by the people here.
And yes.... we did make the right decision in leaving although sometimes it's hard to remember that.
