rain, vacation and a five year old

We made it. Term 1 is over with much hecticness and business to finish everything before the end of the term. We are so happy to be on vacation. We celebrated Layna's birthday at school this year. I got cupcakes (had to leave early unfortunately due toa kids head injury but I don't think she noticed). We are slowing down into the patterns of holidays. It's been true rainy season so cloudy and gray. There has been a lot of reading, painting and just being as a family which has been fun.

Ayumi celebrated her true big day with a cake that we made together (red and green food coloring) and a new bicycle. I can't believe that 5 years ago (5!) she graced us with her presence. What a truly remarkable girl she is. So full of curiousity and wonder. She has grown up so much this past year and I'm so happy she's in our lives. We biked around the neighborhood with her new bike on her birthday and yesterday the kids got naked and ran around in a rain storm.
